Prescriber

A while ago I began to think of myself and my colleagues as being a small apelike primates, that I dubbed the "Shrink". It's been a useful little device for cartoons. This cartoon is about the seduction of shrinks.

Psychiatrists generally recognise that many of the excellent new drugs now available have been developed in an effort to make money. However, we worry about the influence that drug company promotions have on prescribing practices. Although the more outrageous promotions have now diminished, psychiatric drugs are still very actively promoted to psychiatrists through "educational" meetings which, naturally enough, involve some very good food and wine.
